This thread discusses the Content article: How does it continue with CATrain?

- I had some problem with itineraries at modifying layout. The main difficulty is that the program ignores all erroneous itinerary. It would be helpful to save an/all itinerary into a/some text files with one command, and reload a saved itinerary into the itinerary editor. This would be a great help to transplant existing itineraries on a modified layout.

- To converge the real railway signalsystems as the 1st step to work out 3 way signals (eg. red/green/yellow) at as the layout construction and as the control hardware.

Hello,

to save an itinerary in text mode, you can select the text in the Itinerary editor (using the arrows, because \"ctrl a\" is not implemented), than you use the classical keys \"ctrl c\" to copy the text and \"ctrl v\" to past it in a text editor (ex: Note Book). There you can save the text in a disk file.
The contrary is also possible: you can copy a text from an editor and paste it in the Itinerary editor of CATrain.

Operational 3 way signals would certainly be a nice feature. Unfortunately this is very difficult to implement because the basic mechanisms of CATrain have not been designed with this feature in mind.
Nevertheless, this might be introduced in the future with a major release.

Hi,

First of all, I want to thank everybody developping Catrain.

For the future, it would be nice to be able to use signals with \'yellow\' lights. I mean, having a real block system with red-yellow and green positions for the signals.

We use this system at our club, and therefore, it would also be nice to have the possibility to store more than 80 trains.

We noticed also a problem to edit a train once it is created. When we try to add some cars, the system does not accept the modifications. However, modifying speed curve does work correctly.

Hi,

When a layout has a lot of train, then it is difficult to conjugate a train with its throttle. For this reason, this can solved by a program switch, which can turn-on and turn-off a flying number over the engine (locomotive). This number can be the number of train, defined in edit-train list, and the throttle shape contain this number too.

Hi mnandi,
did you see the option \"Display -> Selected train marker\"? That could be helpful. Use the mouse, hover it over all throttle controls and look at the train you are searching. If you reach the right train, you will see a cyan (turquoise) circle spotting the train...

That\'s not as fast as your idea with the moving numbers, but it\'s easier than using the \"try and error\" method...

We would think about that function for later version...

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Hello,

In complement to Daniel\'s answer about the \"Selected train marker\":

From CATrain 2.2.1, this option is saved in the \"tci\" file. Therefore, if you enable this option and you save your layout file, it will still be enabled at next opening.

Moreover, the feature works in both ways:

- when you set the mouse cursor on a throttle control the cyan circle will be moved over the corresponding train, and:
- when you Right Click on a loco, a dialog box will pop-up and the cyan \"led\" will light on the corresponding throttle control.
